Seaze is a podcast that celebrates the innovators and changemakers dedicated to protecting, conserving, and regenerating our oceans through impactful solutions. Hosted by Marianne Brisson and Antonia Nicholls, Seaze spotlights cutting-edge blue innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring listeners to envision a sustainable future for our seas.
From replacing plastics with seaweed-based packaging to transforming recycled oysters into fashion, we dive deep with a new wave of entrepreneurs who are redefining the relationship between business and the ocean. At Seaze, we feature those who put our planet and people above profit, proving that impactful solutions can lead the way to a thriving ocean and a better world.
Marianne is the founder of Seaze. Born in Québec, Canada, she grew up on the Gaspé coast, next to the ocean. With Seaze, she hopes to bring inspiration to the current and next generation, while giving a voice to women and BIPOC—the people who are the most underrepresented in both business and ocean spaces. She currently is a business strategy and marketing consultant and works with impact-driven organizations, such as Whale Seeker. Before this, she served as an advisor for the Canadian Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and as a director of ocean innovation for a local economic development organization in her home region. Marianne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Science degree in Management and International Business. In 2019, she was selected as a Duke Global Fellow for Marine Conservation and spent a summer studying drones for marine conservation and ecology. She now lives in Oregon, USA with her husband, and pomeranian rescued dog named Pink.
Antonia is the co-host of Seaze. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition. She recently embarked on a new professional journey as a Business Development Representative at Opna, a start-up unlocking capital for climate projects, with speed, scale and equity. Prior to this, she worked at Kana Earth. She obtained her PADI Advanced (Junior) Open Water Diver certification at 11 years old and started freediving in 2021 in France. She currently holds a PADI level one Freediver certification. She was born in France and holds the Irish, South African and British nationalities. She has lived in France, Brazil, Monaco, Malaysia, the Netherlands and the UK. She dreams of freediving with whales. She now lives in London, UK.
Aurora grew up in London but considers Eriskay—a remote island in Scotland's Outer Hebrides—her true home. Summers spent messing around in and on the water sparked her deep connection to the sea. After university, she passed her RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and joined the inaugural Ocean Globe Race, a thrilling eight-month round-the-world yacht race on a Swan 53, becoming the youngest British competitor. While circumnavigating, she collaborated with the GOES Foundation and Durham University to sample microplastics and plankton, using a microscope stowed at the end of her bunk. An avid ocean advocate, she’s now taken up surfing and always gravitates towards the sea. Aurora is super excited to join the Seaze team, eager to share her experiences and learn from the journey ahead!
